Note: Transnistria is mostly unrecognized except by fellow unrecognized states Abkhazia and South Ossetia, and is claimed by Moldova in its entirety. The name "Pridnestrovia" is preferred by the country's Russian and Ukrainian population, but "Transnistria" is the more common name in English, so I used it here. There's a common misconception that Transnistria claims to either be a successor state to the Soviet Union or a continuation of it, but neither of these are true.
