Chronology
1967: Roughs Tower, a WWII-era defensive fortification 11 km off the coast of Suffolk, is taken over by pirate radio broadcaster Roy Bates and declared an independent principality
1968: British court aknowledges Sealand is outside of British jurisdiction, considered as recognition of sovereignty by Sealand
1978: Attempted coup by German mercenaries
