Chronology

1324: Kingdom of Sardinia established by Aragon, but doesn't control the whole island until 1420

1708-1717: Spain cedes Sardinia to the Habsburgs and the kingdom enters a personal union with Austria

1717: Returned to Spain

1720: Independent in personal union with Savoy

1814: Savoy united with Sardinia after Napoleonic Wars, country often called Sardinia-Piedmont from here

1861: Forms the Kingdom of Italy with Two Sicilies and the United Provinces of Central italy, the King of Sardinia becomes King of Italy
