1920: Mandate of Palestine created from British-administered former Ottoman territory after WWI

1921-1948: Low-intensity civil war between Jews and Arabs after Arab attack on Jews in Jaffa

1936-1939: Arab revolt

1944-1948: Jewish revolt

1947: United Nations reccomends partitioning the Mandate into a Jewish state and an Arab one, full-on war breaks out after the Arabs reject the plan

1947-1948: First Arab-Israeli War/Israeli War of independence results in the former Mandate being partitioned between Israel, Egypt, and Jordan
