1399: Mysore established, independent from the Vijayanagara Empire
1399-1565: Vijayanagara vassal
1761: Regent Hydar Ali sidelines Maharaja, names himself Sultan of Mysore and becomes de facto ruler
1799: Becomes a Princely State after British defeat Hydar Ali's successor Tipu Sultan and restore the Maharajas power
1831-1881: Goverened by Commission appointed by the Governor General of India after the Nagar Revolt. The Maharaja keeps his title but is stripped of power.
1947-1949: Independence briefly restored before joining India
