1236: Grand Duchy founded

1251-1263: Grand Duke Mindaugas raised to king, but the title is only for his reign

1380-1392: Lithuanian Civil War

1569: Combines with Poland into the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth

1791: Disestablished by the Third Partition of Poland-Lithuania

1813: Napoleon briefly creates a Provisional Government for Lithuania but it's soon conquered by Russia

1918: Kingdom of Lithuania established in the German-occupied Russian baltic, but the elected king never takes his throne, and a Republic is declared

1919-1920: Polish-Lithuanian war, Lithuania loses Vilnius

1940: Invaded and annexed by the USSR

1990: Independence restored
