Note: The Alberta Prosperity certificiate was issued during the Great Depression by the province's Social Credit government. Technically not money, but rather a form of scrip, a substitute for legal tender, the certificates were intended to encourage circulation of money, but proved unpopular due to people having to affix a stamp on the back every week in order for it to keep its value. The program was meant to last for two years, but was cancelled after one.
